Level 4: Advanced Design & Processes

Welcome to ARCEMY® Academy Level 4: Advanced Design & Processes.
In Level 4 of ARCEMY® Academy, you can explore how to assess whether a part is well-suited for WAM® by examining size guidelines, material compatibility, machining requirements, deposition rates, cost factors, and shape complexity. WAM® excels with larger components, such as those exceeding 200×200 mm for titanium or 400×400 mm for other metals, and offers unique advantages for functionally graded parts and complex geometries.
You can dive into Design for AM fundamentals, covering key concepts like build direction, overhangs, intersections, and preform preparation. You’ll learn how to optimise part designs for WAM® and ARCEMY® by applying strategies like overbuilding, splitting complex geometries into subparts, and managing intersections effectively.
Finally, we’ll walk you through how to operate the ARCEMY® system. Using the information learnt in previous lessons, we will cover preparation and safety checks, importing WAMSoft® path plans into AMLSoftTM, configuring settings, and initiating a print. You will also discover how to conduct end-of-job checks to ensure your cell is clean, maintained, and ready for the next build.
By the end of this lesson, you’ll have a solid foundation for evaluating part suitability, designing for WAM® and printing jobs using ARCEMY® with confidence.
