Aluminium Aluminium 5183

Aluminium alloy ER5183 consists primarily of aluminium with small additions of magnesium and manganese. The magnesium content enhances the alloy’s strength and weldability, while manganese contributes to its corrosion resistance. This combination of elements provides favourable mechanical properties and corrosion resistance, making it suitable for various WAM® applications requiring low temperature and good ductility.

One of the significant advantages of ER5183 is its exceptional corrosion resistance, particularly when paired with ER5083. The alloy offers high strength and good resistance to saltwater, seawater, and other corrosive environments, making it particularly well-suited for Marine and Offshore applications. This corrosion resistance helps ensure the longevity and reliability of WAM® parts in challenging environments.

While ER5183 has been formulated to provide good weldability and ease of use, material properties can be enhanced by managing specific WAM® process parameters in ARCEMY®’s AMLSoft™. Parts may require post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) to achieve optimal tensile and yield strengths in some scenarios.
