Copper Alloy Copper Alloy CuNiAl (NAB)

ERCuNiAl, or Nickel Aluminium Bronze (NAB) wire feedstock, is a specific type of welding wire used in Wire Additive Manufacturing (WAM®) processes. NAB wire feedstock typically consists of copper (Cu) as the base metal, with additions of aluminium (Al), nickel (Ni), and sometimes iron (Fe). The specific composition may vary slightly, depending on manufacturing standard required, but the alloy is designed to provide a balance of balance of high strength and ultimate corrosion resistance when used for part production.

One of the key advantages of using certified NAB wire feedstock in WAM® is its excellent resistance to corrosion, particularly in seawater and other aggressive environments. The copper-nickel-aluminium alloy composition offers superior resistance to marine-related corrosion, making it well-suited for applications in the marine industry, specifically components for use in shipbuilding and offshore structures.

ERCuNiAl wire feedstock also exhibits good strength and mechanical properties, allowing for the production of robust and durable components. ARCEMY®’s AMLSoft™ allows for specific parameters used in the WAM® process to be leveraged to improve material properties, including yield strength, elongation, ductility and in some cases corrosion resistance.
