With its high tensile strength and good toughness, ER90S can produce a wide range of WAM® parts. ER90S typically contains significant amounts of chromium (Cr), molybdenum (Mo), and sometimes small amounts of other elements such as silicon (Si) and manganese (Mn); this specific composition enhances the wire feedstocks strength, corrosion resistance, and high-temperature properties making it suitable for various WAM® applications.
ER90S, as a wire feedstock, is known for its ability to withstand prolonged elevated temperatures of up to 600° Celsius and its creep resistance. This makes the material suitable for manufacturing products like heat exchangers, boilers, high-pressure piping, and pressure vessels.
AML3D’s ARCEMY® and AMLSoft™ have specific processing parameters for ER90S in WAM® applications. Appropriate process parameters, such as welding current, travel speed, and shielding gas, are carefully controlled to ensure successful manufacturing outcomes.
In WAM® part manufacture, ER90S is best suited for large format additive manufacturing, where parts are more than 750 kg or are over 400 x 400 mm in size and manufactured in a high volume.
