WAM Materials Titanium for Metal 3D Printing

Titanium is a widely used material in Wire Additive Manufacturing (WAM®), the metal 3D printing technique used in ARCEMY® industrial metal 3D printing systems. Titanium offers several advantages for WAM® due to its unique combination of properties.

One of the key benefits of using titanium in WAM® is its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio. Titanium is known for its high strength, comparable to that of steel, but with about 45% less weight, making it ideal for applications requiring lightweight yet robust components, such as Aerospace, Maritime, Oil & Gas and Space.

Another advantage of titanium in WAM® is its excellent corrosion resistance. Titanium forms a protective oxide layer on its surface, providing resistance to a wide range of corrosive environments, including seawater and various chemicals. This corrosion resistance makes titanium suitable for applications in Marine environments and Chemical Processing.

Material Applications

An extensive array of metals and alloys is available to fabricate parts using our patented WAM® process and ARCEMY® print module.

Our process is highly adaptable to virtually any material, often resulting in superior property outcomes resulting from the Direct Energy Deposition (DED) process.

For additional properties, parts can be heat-treated, coated or used as a feature addition, supporting traditionally manufactured parts.
